Mission: out-create the psychopaths

My name is Asa Lorraine. The idea for Street Smart Spirit came to me in February 2009, but it was really born my freshmen year in high school, many many, years ago. (I am 62 yrs old at the time of this writing, April 2025)
During a church youth group retreat our beloved leader led us on a guided imagery journey. This was a brand new, unheard of at that time experience.
Paraphrasing for brevity, I’ll jump to the relevant bit. Which went something like this, “…you hop on the cloud and it begins to rise, gently, softly, you feel safe and curious…the cloud lands…off to your right you see a brilliant light…all the people are enraptured as they proceed to the throne room of God himself…”
I watched as multitudes walked into the light, thinking to myself, “…that’s beautiful indeed.” The counselor continued on about how blessed we would be to gaze upon and be in the presence of the almighty for all eternity, (blah blah blah). But I felt a deeper curiosity. My attention turned to the left and I asked out loud, “That’s pretty, What else you got?”
Thus began a few thousand quests begotten of innocent, irreverent, bidden and unbidden questions. Sometimes I searched for truth, other times just relief. Sometimes my heart led, other times the belly. Often, it was my head thinking it had the right ideas.
My feet did a lot of walking, my vehicles cruised thousands of miles with no direction. I wondered and wandered, a lot. But no matter what form of locomotion I used, no matter who or what was in the lead, no matter if I was sitting still for months at a time {which did happen}, always the Observer within was watching, taking notes, and narrating.
What a hoot my Observer is. I swear to the heavens it is of the Trickster clan…tbc…
